Why Gothenburg’s restaurateurs chose OpenPOS.

Majornas Bowling grew with simplicity and security.

Gothenburg’s oldest bowling alley met a new generation of restaurateurs – and found a POS system that actually simplifies their daily operations.

Majornas Bowling has been a part of Gothenburg’s entertainment scene since 1963. Regulars, league players, and groups of friends meet here to eat, drink, and bowl in one of the city’s most classic halls.
When a new group of well-known restaurateurs took over the operation, they wanted to revive the tradition – but in a modern way. To succeed, they needed a POS system that could handle both the restaurant and the bowling alley without any hassle.

The solution was OpenPOS – a Nordic POS system that is as easy to use as it is stable to operate.

Well-known restaurateurs with high demands

Behind Majornas Bowling and the restaurant Backen are experienced names from Gothenburg’s restaurant scene – Jesper Carlson, Rasmus Hansén, Sam Barker, and Jakob Johansson – with backgrounds from Andra Långgatan and Linné, among others. They are used to a high pace, full dining rooms, and the need for systems that just work.

“Bowling was new to us, but we knew the restaurant part. We wanted to tie the whole place together – so that guests can easily bowl, eat, drink, and just have a good time.”

When they took over the facility, there was an outdated system in place. It was slow, difficult to update, and tied to a single computer. Bills were divided between the restaurant and bowling alley, and statistics could not be tracked in real time.

They needed a comprehensive solution that could grow with the business—not hold it back.

From two worlds to one flow

After comparing several suppliers, they chose OpenPOS.
The system made it possible to connect the restaurant Backen with the bowling alley in one and the same flow – with Multipay and a common bill regardless of where the guests are.

With the web-based BackOffice, the owners could also manage menus, track sales, and plan staff wherever they were.
No more late nights in the office – just a simple overview in real time.

“It feels professional. Guests can eat, bowl, and drink – and we can keep the wholeevening together in one system. It saves time and increases sales.”

Quick start, stable operation

The transition was quick. OpenPOS technicians installed the systems on-site and ensured everything worked from day one. None of the owners had to act as the IT department – focus could remain on the guests.

Since the change, Majornas Bowling has had a stable operation without interruptions, and the daily operation is faster. Orders are taken smoothly, invoices are collected efficiently, and service flows better in both the bar and restaurant.

“The user-friendliness of the new system is extremely much better than the previous system! And the staff thinks it's much easier to work with the POS.”

Support that actually answers

For experienced restaurateurs, support is a crucial factor.
When something happens, there must be someone to talk to immediately – not an automated chatbot.

The close contact with the OpenPOS support team has made the owners feel secure, even as the business develops. They describe the relationship as “a partner that is always reachable.”

“The contact with OpenPOS has been great. Thanks to everything working so well, we rarely need to contact them. But if something happens, we can contact them and we know that we will get quick help.”

The tools behind the experience

In an environment where bowling, bar, and restaurant flow together, you need a system that doesn’t complicate things. OpenPOS gives Majornas Bowling functions that keep the bill together, simplify work for staff, and keep operations stable – even when the pace is high. These are the tools that make everything run smoothly without anyone having to think much about it.

Building further – with OpenPOS as the foundation

During the summer, the ground floor of the hall was renovated to include more serving areas and a new bar. A new menu is on the way, and OpenPOS is part of the planning. The goal is to create seamless flows between kitchen, floors, and bars – without compromising simplicity.
